Beyond the placement pre-test, KIIP has assessments that mark your progress through the program — commonly a mid-term (중간평가) and a comprehensive (종합평가) evaluation. Understanding what they are for takes the anxiety out of them.

Where these tests sit in the program

As you complete levels, KIIP checks that you have absorbed the material before you advance. The mid-term type of assessment evaluates your progress through the language levels, and the comprehensive assessment is the more significant evaluation tied to completing the program’s stages, including the understanding-of-Korean-society content. In short: these are the checkpoints that let you move up and, ultimately, complete the program.

What the language assessments cover

Because they measure the same skills the course teaches, you can prepare with confidence. Expect a mix of:

• Vocabulary and grammar from the levels you have studied — choosing correct forms, meanings, and usage;
• Reading comprehension of dialogues, notices, and short passages;
• Listening comprehension where audio is included;
• For the society-focused evaluation, knowledge of Korean culture, law, and civic life in addition to language.
